Sea Stone As Inspiration For Art

One of my favorite places to escape and enjoy my version of "eye candy", is some of the secluded and "unpicked over" shoreline along coastal Maine. I love to take my shoes off and walk through the lapping water, exploring the beautiful shapes and color of glossy smooth stones bathed in rippling low water and sunlight.
The waves smash against the ancient jagged rocks, then recedes. The water around my feet is obscured with sediment, ripples, and bubbles in the bright sunlight. For just a few moments the clouds pass over the sun and the water clears, and I can see stones that are polished smooth and beautifully colored.

Awaken From Sleep

"I'm like a man who's been half-asleep all his life, trying to find out what he was like before he woke up."

Moments captured in mind & soul

A soft whisper,

and a gentle breath of wind...

a beautiful dream,

where for a brief moment,

time stands still,

...and we are truly alive.

The Beauty & Serenity of Ice

It is only when we silent the blaring sounds of our daily existence that we can finally hear the whispers of truth that life reveals to us, as it stands knocking on the doorsteps of our hearts. ~K.T. Jong

"Icy Early Winter Sunrise"

Image 1

Consciousness is a light directed outward, it lights up the way ahead of us so that we don't stumble. ~Excerpt from Dr Zhivago

Image 2

Image 3

Image ....as seen through icy windows. Prints available soon

The indigo blues and blacks hint at the coming sunrise. I shudder in the anticipation and the cold chill of a frosty November morning. As the sun slowly crawls over the horizon, she subtly defines the clouds and hints at the coming day. Her first light passes through the frosted windows and bursts into flames of color and light.

Simply Organic#4; Water

Water, thou hast no taste, no color, no odor; canst not be defined, art relished while ever mysterious. Not necessary to life, but rather life itself, thou fillest us with a gratification that exceeds the delight of the senses.
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Wind, Sand, and Stars, 1939

Deer at Dusk

With few predators around any more except for man and his automobile, deer are pretty frequent sights on my walks and jogs. This deer I surprised while feeding on the edge of the woods as I came around the path. We stared at each other for several moments before he darted off into the woods.

The Eagle at Sunset

Looking south towards New Hartford near the Justice Rathbone-Knights of Pythias Memorial

With a commanding view of the valley, the Thomas Proctor Memorial better known as the "Eagle" is a great spot to take in the 4 seasons and the beautiful view of Utica below. I prefer going there when there is no auto traffic and often hike up or to enjoy a jog or XC ski adventure

I smelled my old car today....

Most of us Americans can fondly remember a special car in our lives. Cars are often symbols of growing up and escape and freedom.Or maybe sexiness or machismo. They may remind us of good times, or special people and places in our lives. I smelled my old car today.... so my latest series will be a selection of old car images inspired by the musty and historical smell in my 69 Mustang and the "ride" down memory lane I get every time I sit in it.

Autumn and Young Dreams...

I wanted to do autumn portraits of my kids that captured their personalities as well as to lock in on this special and youthful moment in time for them. I enjoyed immensely taking these special photos and picked out two of my favorites to share.
