It's a moment when a plant or tree puts forth much of it's energy stores into producing the elements to assure the next generation of it's species. As digital cameras and computers have allowed me to enter the amazing world of plants and flowers close-up, I'm convinced more than ever, that with every budding and pollinating flower; a new universe for the most part unseen by our eyes... is evolving.

I thought this would be a good month to share some of my black and white images with you this January. Seemed appropriate after the holidays and now knee deep in the New Year and a snowy upstate winter (at least as of this week)

That moments come and go like those sands in the hourglass, and elusively pass into our memories. Memories that seem to stay with you whether they be good or bad, usually burn themselves into the recesses of our minds because they have an emotional tag of some sort attached. I will post a few more images through Oct. and November as this seems to be a very reflective time of year. Hope you enjoy them and perhaps they bring back some special memories of your own.

Places where possibly our twin or triplet operates in an unseen dimension of space and time etc etc. A regular modern day theory that would leave the likes of Rod Serling or Carl Sagan titillated.....well anyway......I believe we look directly into the eyes of our maker and into the wide open universe at times, when we look into nature. So thus inspired, I share with you a few of my interpretations

July Mountain Stream....

So hot and dry above the trees lining the stream,
yet it is cool, shady and quiet under the canopy of the trees.
I sit on a large mossy rock in the middle of the stream bed.
A stream where just a few months ago,
after spring rains and winters melting snows,
the stream swelled, roared.
And sent snaking down the mountain,
thundering torrents and waves of black water.
Massive gray boulders in place and embedded for a million years,
are rolled down the mountain by this mighty rush of water,
like a little childs marbles.
Large trees whose roots had clung to the stones along the streams banks, lose their grip and are shredded like kindling.
Now, there is just a gentle whisper,
a hint of water trickling on the rocks below.
A green maple leaf, winds it's way down the streams narrow path, and a tree sparrow is singing in the trees nearby.

The lonely twisted tree survives precariously on the very edge of the canyon walls. Wintry blasts and summers scorching heat, have yet to reduce it to cinders. It's roots have patiently dug deep into the rock and sand, as it hangs on with a deaths grip, to the canyons edge. It's scant limbs and sparse needles, always reaching to embrace the sun.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17408936267361148481noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3144355300302856948.post-12537834892815081762012-06-01T10:31:00.000-07:002012-06-06T05:24:20.281-07:00Intimate With Nature Acrylic Painting Series 1&2

Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore —
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
"'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door —
Only this and nothing more."
