Into the biting wind the leaf swirled and tumbled,
It passed by me and lifted high into the dark gray autumn sky,
higher and higher until I could see it no more.
The rain began to fall, and pelt my face as I peered upwards and shivered in the cold.
The earth soon became wet with the smells of decomposing earth and leaves.
My eyes welled with water as I searched the sky, waiting for the leaf to return to it's earthly bounds.
The clouds parted briefly, exposing momentarily a ribbon of cerulean blue sky and soft sunlight,
which touched my forehead for a moment. I shivered excitedly, warmed and comforted.
